Professor honored for science education leadership
|
UTA UTeach Master Teacher Karen Jo Matsler will be awarded the 2025 Melba Newell Phillips Medal in January from the American Association of Physics Teachers in recognition of her extensive contributions to physics education and her tireless efforts to support educators nationwide.

| Theater arts performances
|
UTA Department of Theatre Arts and Dance presents Room Service, the 1937 comedy by American playwrights Allen Boretz and John Murray, famously made into a film in 1938 by the Marx Brothers. The show runs for six performances in UTA’s Studio Theatre from Wednesday, Oct. 9, through Sunday, Oct. 13. Purchase tickets.

UTA Racing will compete against other universities at the 23rd annual Texas Autocross Weekend Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, in Parking Lot 49. Faculty, staff, students, and the local community are invited to show their support for UTA at the races.

Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair
|
The Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair is an annual event at UTA organized by faculty and students across the University. On Monday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., the Indigenous Peoples' Day Fair will feature food, fun, awareness-building, and connections on the Library Mall. More than a dozen local and regional Native-focused organizations will offer information about their work and ways for others to get involved.

This year’s Fall into Fitness Team Challenge is officially live! Form a team of three to five, choose your team captain, and work together to log 1 million steps before Nov. 10. Join the Fall into Fitness Challenge, join or create a team, and start tracking. If you haven’t found members to team up with, post to your UTA's social channel and let others know that you’re looking for teammates. You can also find an open team inside the challenge or connect with your institution wellness lead by emailing wellness@uta.edu.

| Lessons from process improvement pitfalls
|
In a fun and spooky setting, participants in Scary Story Time: Lessons from Process Improvement Pitfalls will hear scenarios of process improvement initiatives that went wrong and explore the haunting causes behind them. Through light-hearted storytelling, attendees will extract key lessons and brainstorm how to avoid these "monstrous" mistakes in the future.
