February is American Heart Month, so we're highlighting a few of our heart-healthy offerings like dark leafy greens rich in vitamin B and salmon varieties rich in fatty Omega-3s. Take a look at this week's selection of wholesome favorites.
 Salmon
This cold-water fish is a great source of protein and is also packed with heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. The American Heart Association advises eating salmon and other omega-3 rich foods twice a week for benefits that go beyond heart health. We carry a variety of options including Atlantic, Scottish, King, Loch Duart, and more.
Dark Leafy Greens
Dark leafy greens are rich in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals – especially an important B vitamin called folate that is helpful for heart disease prevention. We carry a variety of heart-healthy dark leafy greens, including kale, rapini, and collard greens.
Nuts and Seeds
We carry a variety of nuts and seeds here at Ingardia Bros. We also carry a wide variety of heart-healthy seeds like chia, flax, and pumpkin. Nuts and seeds are great sources of unsaturated fatty acids and anti-inflammatory properties.
Beets
Beetroot juice is one of the richest dietary sources of nitrates, which help improve blood flow, lower blood pressure, and improve overall heart health. Ingardia Bros. carries a variety of beets, including red, gold, and striped.
Olive Oil
When it comes to heart health, olive oil is a simple way to replace unhealthy, saturated, and trans-fatty acids of animal fats with a source of omega-3 fatty acids that reduce inflammation and improve cholesterol. We carry a variety of options, including EVOO, pomace, and olive oil blends.
Avocados
The vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and fiber found in avocados all play a role in keeping the cardiovascular system healthy. These delicious and versatile fruits are rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds.

Legumes
Legumes benefit cardiovascular health because they are high in fiber, plant protein, and other micronutrients but low in fat, free of cholesterol, and low on the glycemic index. We carry a variety of legumes including chickpeas, lentils, black beans, and more.
