| Area High School Groups: You are Invited!!!

"Why do we travel? Even traveling two hours away to escape to a neighboring city can get us out of the mundane, awaken our senses, heightens our emotions, invigorate our mind and open us up to the possibility of something new. For students, field trips serve this purpose, to unfurl our horizons."

Can a Nation With Power Still Be Ethical?
|
“We have seen religion arise as a central force in world politics and frequent instigator of global conflict. … The failure of religion to produce individuals and societies that champion the values advocated in them is both puzzling and deeply unsettling." Dr. Donniel Hartman writes this in his earlier book, Putting God Second: How to Save Religion from Itself. Read Doug's Insight, drawing upon Dr. Harman's work, on the intersection of power and ethics. This issue and others will be the focus of this year’s Jewish-Christian- Muslim Dialogue.

| Drawing from Ancestral Wisdom: On Valarie Kaur's Visit to GVSU |
"We slipped our shoes off to feel the ground beneath our feet, with the waters of the Grand River flowing nearby. Breathing deeply, we closed our eyes, and were invited to imagine an ancestor, one that represents courage, standing behind us, watching over us, encouraging us forward. Next, she asked us to envision a child, one from our lives who brings us joy, standing in front of us, smiling up at us. At the beginning of both of her visits to GVSU, Valarie Kaur started off with an exercise grounding us all in both time and space."
