Nashville, TN, March 28 - Early this summer, Adventure Science Center will unveil a major overhaul to Wonders of the Universe, a popular exhibit gallery on the second floor.
A model of NASA's Mars Curiosity rover - which is the size of a small car - will be displayed in a Mars diorama, offering visitors an immersive experience of the Red Planet. The exhibit will include a variety of interactive displays and the chance to touch a real Mars meteorite.
Wonders of the Universe will also feature a life-sized comparison of NASA's Hubble and James Webb telescopes, showcasing their contributions to space exploration.
An invitation-only preview reception with esteemed panel of hosts will be held Wednesday, May 29. Wonders of the Universe will open to the general public on Saturday, June 1 at 9:00 am. Access is included in the cost of general admission.
With more details forthcoming, this significant redesign kicks off the start of more exciting updates to Nashville's only science and technology center.

2024 Award of Excellence for Community Support: Veterans Day Event
- 2024 Award of Excellence for Emerging Museum Professional: Xavier Brown

The science center connected with Veteran's services organization, Operation Stand Down (OSDTN), to host a special, sensory-friendly evening exclusively for their clients. The science center closed to the public early to provide quieter, after-hours access for military families.

|
An OSTDTN employee noted, "Adventure Science Center made their Military/Veteran Family Appreciation night free, accessible, and sensitive to post-traumatic stress and it's a model more museums and cultural resources should replicate."

Xavier Brown joined Adventure Science Center in 2021 as Senior Coordinator of Innovation Incubator (i2), the science center's high-tech markerspace. Xavier facilitates thousands of curated, science-based activities in i2 each week while actively mentoring teen volunteers through youth engagement program, CR3W.
Most recently, Xavier sponsored a project focused on increasing public safety surrounding the dangers of coin batteries with youth volunteer, Andy Gan, that was awarded First Place in the Medicine and Health Section of Middle Tennessee Science and Engineering Fair (MTSEF) and Third Place overall.
i2 is included in the cost of general admission and provides access to high-tech, multigenerational activities to over 6,000 visitors a month and is open Thursday - Monday.

Nissan Commits Funds to Support Sustainability Programming
|
|
|
|
Adventure Science Center was granted $45,000 to support sustainability education efforts, notably enhancing the beloved Lever Car exhibition - an exploration of physics that gives guests the opportunity to lift an actual Nissan LEAF - and its upcoming move to a more prominent location in the science center.
This updated exhibit for visitors of all ages offers interactive experiences with electric vehicles and features educational signage illustrating career pathways in the automotive industry at Nissan. A core initiative driving this commitment is CR3W, a yearlong, dynamic youth career development and volunteer program for teens.
Additionally, Nissan is sponsoring Adventure Science Center's April Theme - Green, supporting a variety of curated activities, Live Science shows, and i2 crafts all month long.
