STUDENT SUCCESS

Visual Arts student Chloe Twu was named one of UC San Diego’s Triton Student Employees of the Year, earning the Professional Development Award for outstanding career and leadership growth.

For the third consecutive year, Visual Arts student Jessica Zhu has garnered the grand prize at the Adam D. Kamil Media Awards, an annual film competition that recognizes undergraduate student filmmakers.

Philosophy student Xinhui Ye received the 2026 Eric Paul Allison Memorial Prize Fellowship, honoring an outstanding senior who exemplifies integrity, academic excellence and a commitment to learning.

The 2026 Institute for Practical Ethics Keynote will feature co-director John Evans in conversation with Stanford University’s Sergiu P. Pasca on the ethical implications of cultivating lab-grown clusters of human brain cells.

Louisiana State University’s Gundela Hachmann will speak on the human ability to create something new, anchored by ideas from authors Hannah Arendt and Christa Wolf. The virtual event is hosted by the Institute of Arts and Humanities.

La Jolla Symphony & Chorus presents “Echoes of the Divine: A Season Finale of Reflection & Light.” The concert will feature the world premiere of Department of Music graduate student Akari Komura’s piece “outgrowth.”
