Hacks & ChopsLast week, a group of students and staff from the Puget Sound Museum of Natural History attended The Society for The Preservation of Natural History Collections' annual conference in San Francisco, California. Gemma Bertain ’25, Beatrice Bugos ’23, and Sadie Stone ’24 gave a talk about the museum’s unique undergraduate docent program; Director Peter Wimberger gave a talk about naturalist Stanley Jewett, historical field notes, and museum data; Amalina Lambert-Mullen ’26 gave a specimen talk about her specialized wing prep technique; and Education and Outreach Director Madison Mayfield ran a science illustration workshop at the California Academy of Sciences. The museum crew even took first place in the conference trivia night.
