Therapy Dog Events

Diego has attended 86 events this year, averaging a little over three per week. Each event lasts about one and a half hours.

A majority of the events — 66.7% — were visits to students, followed by UC Health, staff and two critical incidents. Of the events, 71% were community requested and the remainder were officer initiated.

National Take Your Dog to Work Day

What sets Diego apart from our beloved stay-at-home furry companions? In recognition of National Take Your Dog to Work Day, we shared a Q&A in the Operations Management and Capital Programs newsletter on why Diego is qualified to clock in every day.

As his fellow colleagues, you may already know a lot, but can you guess what he enjoys doing for fun when he's off duty? Read the Q&A to find out.

Celebrating Spring Commencement

This year Diego welcomed the family and friends of over 5,000 UC San Diego graduates. Diego worked alongside his human partners during the all-campus commencement at RIMAC field.

Graduates and their families alike were excited to see and celebrate with Diego during their big day. A huge congratulations to the 2026 graduates.

Paws and Reflect

This summer, Diego wants to remind you to check in with your body and mind. The summer is a great time to get outside and get moving! Take a moment for a nice walk down in Scripps Institute of Oceanography or check out an easy read from Giesel. Diego knows how important it is to enjoy the sunshine, whether it's taking a nap on the Sun God lawn or taking a swim in the ocean.

Check in with each other and remember to slow down this summer.

Paw Patrol: Police Department Updates

A gentle reminder to double check your office space doors and windows. As the campus slows down during the summer, buildings are more likely to be broken into if left unattended for long periods of time.

Make sure to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave entryways propped open. If you know you will be away from your workspace for an extended period of time, let your coworkers know when you are expected to be back and to periodically check on the space.

Upcoming Events: Diego's Pack Walks

This summer, join Diego and friends for Diego’s Pack Walks! We will be walking every other Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. starting at the Wong Avery Library. We'll take a nice loop through campus across Revelle Plaza, up Ridge Walk, down through Library Walk and back over to the School of Medicine. Please keep an eye on Diego’s Instagram for more details!

Diego's Doggy Developments will return in the fall!
