Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are pleased to let you know that we are on an upward trajectory on our philanthropy and we are presently on track to exceed our goal of raising $20 million during this academic year... potentially our best year ever.
As part of our renewed development efforts and to build on our momentum, we want to announce a new program to you, our internal stakeholders, and explain the rationale for seeking your support at this strategic juncture.
On Wednesday, February 1, the UT Health Science Center will launch its inaugural UTHSC Family Campaign to raise donations from our family – UTHSC faculty and staff. This campaign, similar to others already well established at other institutions, will span the entire month of February and will build support for our campus programs and colleges.
Why an internal campaign?
- When our development officers and senior campus leadership engage with alumni and friends to solicit funds, the fact that our employees support the campus, not only with talent but also financially, is a powerful motivator for giving.
-
Sometimes we do not see the impact we have on someone’s life, but through philanthropy, we know we help dreams become realities. We are eager to provide our faculty and staff an opportunity to support the areas in which you are most passionate.
-
We are enthusiastic to build on our momentum, the pride in our collective accomplishments, and our noble vision of "Healthy Tennesseans. Thriving Communities" that was endorsed earlier this month by our UTHSC Advisory Board.
Next week, you will receive an email about how you can make an investment in our campus, showing your support for our mission, vision, and the tremendous work we do to keep Tennessee healthy. We invite you to make a gift of any size during the month of February and to encourage others to make an investment, too.
Together, we can make our campus and programs even stronger!
Winston Churchill once stated, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” Please join us as we, too, give in support of the launch of the inaugural UTHSC Family Campaign and help us change the life of a student and possibly save the life of a family member or friend.
With respect and gratitude,
Peter and Leonie Buckley
