Fish Lab makes waves studying
parental bonds beneath surface |
In a unique lab inside Humboldt Hall, Biology Professor Ron Coleman studies thousands of fish in order to reveal the mysteries of underwater parenting. His groundbreaking research, which recently earned him the Senior Faculty Award, focuses on how different species care for their young.
"Different fish parent differently," said Coleman. "We are constantly learning new things."
More than 200 students have contributed to Coleman's research, which includes annual trips to Costa Rica to study cichlids in the wild. In addition, the Fish Lab is open to the public during business hours.
