State of the University Address

Reminder: President Jennifer Cowley’s State of the University Address will be tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 2 p.m. in Texas Hall. Together, we will celebrate a year of accomplishments and prepare for the academic year ahead. Those who can’t join in person can watch the event live online.

Opportunities for students to participate in research under the guidance of a faculty mentor are not offered at many two-year colleges. To help bridge this gap, Jianzhong Su, professor of mathematics, is piloting a program where students from the North Lake campus of Dallas College can come to UTA to participate in paid research with his department.

There will be a screening of the Emmy-nominated documentary Decisiones: Datos y Cambio Climático (Decisions: Data and Climate Change) on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 5:30-8 p.m. in the atrium of the sixth floor of the library. This hour-long program was developed by Julian Rodriguez, a broadcast journalism specialist at UTA, and his colleagues at Catholic University of Colombia and The Weather Channel en Español.

Foundations of Process Improvement
|
“Foundations of Process Improvement” will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the atrium of the sixth floor of the library. The session will provide an overview of process improvement methodology and an introduction to process tools. Register for the one-day course.

The Disability Employee (DE) Network semester kickoff will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Room 132 of the Social Work Building. Food will be provided. The mission of the DE Network is to promote visibility and build community for people with disabilities and allies across campus.
