Preparing for Orientation Sessions |
For many incoming students, Experience will be the only academic portal they know at Ole Miss. Behind the scenes, Encompass teams have been preparing new tools, such as CRM Advise and Degree Works, to create a smoother, more connected orientation and advising experience.
New support information is now available on the Banner Support Page.

Advisor-Student Communications |
With CRM Advise comes new Experience cards designed to strengthen advisor-student communication. Starting with orientation, students will have access to an Advise Communications card that documents emails and phone interactions with academic advisors.
|
|
|
Degree Works makes degree audits easier to understand and navigate for both students and advisors by visually comparing coursework against degree requirements. Student-facing Degree Works cards in Experience will launch ahead of the Fall 2026 term.

What is Effort Certification? |
Effort Certification is the process of reviewing and certifying the proportion of time spent working on a federal award (also known as Effort).
Required under federal law, Effort Certification helps ensure payroll charged to grants accurately reflects the work performed.
Beginning after the May 15 payroll period, Effort Certification will be managed through Workday.

Our move to cloud-based systems marks a new era by creating a more connected and user-centered experience for students, faculty, and staff. While technology alone does not drive success, providing a better overall experience will enhance how our campus community works, learns, and engages for years to come.
Vicki Farnsworth
Chief Information Officer and Encompass Facilitator
The Encompass Facilitator helps guide the initiative by connecting technology strategy with institutional priorities, ensuring the project remains focused on the broader vision for the university.
