EKTO VR Featured at Tony Awards
EKTO VR Featured in Carnegie Mellon Commercial
at the Tony Awards
Carnegie Mellon University and Swartz Center 2020 VentureBridge startup EKTO VR, virtual reality robotics boots startup founded by alumnus Brad Factor, was featured in a CMU commercial during the recent Tony Awards. Part of the commercial was filmed at the CMU Swartz Center.

Green Gruntz Growery: Empowering Veterans through Alternative Therapies
CMU Tepper School of Business student and disabled veteran Jeffrey DeMareo has procured Class 1 Cultivation and Class 2 Manufacturing licensing from the state of New Jersey to operate his adult, personal-use cannabis company, Green Gruntz Growery. Jeffrey plans to partner with the Balanced Veteran Network (BNV), which provides education and services to help empower veterans to use alternative therapies to combat suicide, PTSD, anxiety, depression and chronic pain.

CMU Alumnus Kevin Dowling to Lead Innovation Works' Robotics Factory

Innovation Works has announced the appointment of Kevin Dowling as interim lead of the Robotics Factory. Dowling, a tech leader who was involved with three IW companies and a founding member and board chair of the Pittsburgh Robotics Network, brings with him an impressive repertoire of experience and leadership to helm the Robotics Factory program.

Five Carnegie Mellon University Startups Selected to 2023 Cleantech Open Northeast Cohort
Cleantech Open Northeast (CTONE), the northeast region of the nation’s largest cleantech startup accelerator, has welcomed 47 startups from across the northeast and around the globe into its 2023 cohort. This year’s cohort, which includes five startups from Carnegie Mellon University, are diverse, and extremely driven to commercialize high-impact solutions to improve the environment and combat climate change. The CMU startups in the cohort are:
