The Incentive for Developing External Awards (IDEA) program provides a monetary incentive for faculty to write a competitive grant proposal for external funding to further their research, scholarly, and/or creative activity at Sacramento State. Faculty members must identify one specific grant solicitation or a formal request for proposals to which they are interested in submitting a proposal.
For this cycle, the grant's submission deadline must be between July 1, 2026 – January 31, 2027. This program is open to all tenured and tenure-track faculty, and lecturers with multi-year appointments of at least 0.5 time base. Applications may be submitted for individual or collaborative projects. Upon submission of the external grant proposal, faculty may choose to receive additional employment or professional development funds (amount dependent on total proposal budget).
