Staff Spotlight: Kelly Heider
Kelly is the associate vice provost for Libraries and Research Support Services. She is deeply committed to fostering a culture of belonging at the IUP Libraries. Through her leadership, the libraries have become an inclusive hub for students, faculty, and staff of all backgrounds. Kelly has overseen initiatives that ensure access to underrepresented perspectives, such as the intentional curation of collections that highlight marginalized voices. Her passion for textbook affordability programs, such as the Act 101 Textbook Reserve Program (a collaboration between the IUP Libraries and the University College) and the PA GOAL Library Licensed Materials Grant, reduce financial barriers for students. Additionally, accessible services like “Get It,” residential delivery, and interlibrary loan cater to diverse needs. Kelly’s involvement in the thoughtful redesign of library spaces has resulted in the creation of group, quiet, and silent study zones within Stapleton and Stabley libraries. Special purpose rooms, such as the Children’s Reading Room, Lactation Room, Student Break Room, and new Muslim Prayer Room, have all been established under her leadership. Through displays, artwork, and outreach events, the libraries celebrate diversity while librarian-led workshops on open educational resources empower learners. Under her leadership, the library system has become a model of inclusion and accessibility. We thank you, Kelly!
