Friend, As we officially enter “Spooky Season,” the Erie Playhouse has the perfect spine-tingling show for you as Stephen King’s MISERY comes to life in a stage adaptation by William Goldman. Fans of the 1990 screen version starring Kathy Bates and James Caan may recognize Goldman’s name as he also wrote the screenplay. True, it’s a departure from our recent smash production of BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL, but we all need a little variety in our lives, and in our theatre experiences.
Of course, if you’re looking for more family-friendly fare, it won’t be long before our next Youtheatre production, DISNEY DESCENDANTS: THE MUSICAL, takes the stage! Tickets go on sale October 17 for a magical show the whole family will love! More information on both upcoming productions can be found below.
I also want to take this opportunity to offer a gigantic THANK YOU to our friends at Lincoln Recycling for a major donation to help fund the refurbishment of our digital marquee display. Very soon, the blacked-out panels will be gone as the entire display is upgraded. The marquee is the front door of the Playhouse, and our guests deserve a top-notch experience from the moment they arrive!
I’m so proud of the work everyone is doing here at the Erie Playhouse, and as always, we’re grateful you’re a part of it all! We can’t wait to see you at the theatre.
Best,
Zach Flock Executive Director
P.S. Remember, our Box Office hours have been extended to 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Stop in or call 814-454-2852 for tickets! However, our Box Office will be closed on Monday, October 9 for Columbus Day.

MISERY by William Goldman Based on the novel by Stephen King
True life becomes stranger than fiction when an acclaimed romance novelist wakes up in the home of his “Number One Fan.” Rescued from a wintery car crash, Paul Sheldon (Matt Fuchs) finds himself incapacitated in the secluded home of Annie Wilkes (Sue Ellen Wojciechowski), a seemingly kind nurse. When events take a nightmarish turn, the injured Paul realizes the unhinged Annie has no intention of letting him leave. This spine-tingling stage adaptation traps you in the room with Paul as he must outsmart Annie if he hopes to escape.
Based on Stephen King’s best-selling novel, the tense cat-and-mouse game will grip you until the very end.
Also featuring Wayne Gardner. Directed by Carolin Lynn, assistant-directed by Michael Weiss.

Cinematically scored and theatrically staged, this adaptation breathes musical life into a familiar story while retaining the original’s warmth, humor, and pathos. It's time for PLAYtime!
Visit any Erie Community School, YMCA Preschool, St. Martin’s and St. Ben’s Childcare Centers or any Early Connections site and you might run into PLAYtime! This week marks our second week in the buildings for the new school year! We are currently in 150 classrooms, and we visit over 2200 kids weekly! In the first two weeks we featured 10 stories! We met Molly Lou Melon, a hidden gem, a bear who tries to follow the rules, and a raccoon who is anxious about school! We explored colors, and feelings, movement and music, and just had the best time with our new friends.
Along with our weekly visits, we have lots of upcoming events on the calendar including “Harding’s Fall Fest,” “Trunk or Treats” at several of our partner schools, and “Bingo for Books” at Diehl! And if you missed out on “PLAYtime at the Zoo,” you missed out on a lot of fun, but don’t worry, even though this sold-out event is over, the Erie Zoo asked us back in the spring for another great evening of “PLAYtime at the Zoo, part 2!”
