Food Ministries
This week, you'll be hearing from our own Cliff Barkley about three food ministries:
First, Helping Hands of Georgetown has been serving the underserved and homeless population of Georgetown since 2016. They have a Mobile Food Pantry in the Georgetown Library parking lot, and volunteers hand out brown bag lunches, pantry bags, clothing, and hygiene items. https://www.helpinghandsgtx.org/
Second, Meals on Wheels delivers hot, nutritious lunchtime meals to homebound older adults and persons with disabilities. Volunteers, including members of this church, take 60-90 minutes out of their day to deliver meals to clients. For many of these clients, the Meals on Wheels volunteer is the only person they speak to on a given day. https://mealsonwheels-williamsonburnet.org/volunteer-opportunities
Lastly, Backpack Buddies ensures that food insecure children in Georgetown ISD do not go hungry over the weekend during the school year. They provide over 1,000 students with weekend packs of nutritious, non-perishable food items. Teams of 3 to 4 volunteers come together on Wednesdays to pack these items for Carver and Ford Elementary Schools. https://georgetownbackpackbuddies.org/
And don't forget about The Caring Place which was featured last week. https://www.caringplacetx.org/how-to-help/get-involved-overview.html
