(zoom options available, contact individual classes)

Open Circle, Office Suite, 2nd Floor
“Short Stories by Jesus: The Enigmatic Parables of a Controversial Rabbi” by Amy-Jill Levine. This study is a fresh look at several parables of Jesus through the prospective of the original listeners of these stories and how they would have understood them.

Journey with Joy, Rm 204 (Chapel), 2nd Floor
“Why Did Jesus Have to Die? The Meaning of the Crucifixion” by Adam Hamilton
Despite the crucifixion’s central place in Christian faith, the New Testament offers few clear answers about how Jesus’ death saves, or why, exactly, he had to die. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors but never explain exactly how it works or why it had to happen this way. Books are $21 and available in the classroom. Hearts Transformed Class, Rm 203, 2nd Floor
This class studies the weekly worship sermon... “From the Well to the World” (lent wk 3) John 4:1-42.  Jesus had to go through Samaria - not geographically, but theologically. The One who embodies God’s love for the world goes straight into it, meeting a Samaritan woman at a well at noon. Seen and known by Jesus, she becomes theologian, disciple, and evangelist, witnessing to the “Savior of the world.” Salvation here is presence: abiding relationship. This Lent, we practice drawing from the well through stillness, prayer, and attentive listening. Spiritual practices are not retreat from a burning world but preparation for faithful action. From this living water, we are sent to embody courageous, public love in the world God loves. Contact Neal Baumwart (nbaumwart@hotmail.com) or Ronna Keagle (rrkeagle@gmail.com)
