Reflections on the NFG Connection 2023 Convening in Wilmington, North Carolina —
Woods Fund Chicago’s President, Michelle Morales, and Kelly Suzanne Saulsberry, Communications Strategy & Storytelling Officer, attended the NFG Connection 2023 National Convening on May 8-12, 2023, in Wilmington, North Carolina. They were invited to share Woods Fund Chicago’s journey funding movements in Chicago as part of the Story Share Learning and Strategy session titled How to Fund Movements Building Power.

Woods Fund Chicago is pleased to announce our grant awards to the following organizations for Spring Cycle 2023 grantmaking. This Spring Cycle includes 13 organizations committed to community-based organizing, four organizations committed to public policy advocacy, 24 organizations integrating community-based organizing and public policy advocacy, one organization committed to capacity building, one collective committed to movement building, and three coalitions as part of our Catalyst Fund. Congratulations to our grantee partners, and many thanks again for the invaluable work you do to organize, advocate, and coalition-build for racial, economic, and social justice. We appreciate you!

Woods Fund Chicago is accepting submissions for our Fall Core 2023 grantmaking cycle starting on Monday, May 15, and ending on Friday, June 9.
Please be advised that we have moved to a new grants management platform, GivingData.
Returning Grantee Partners:
You will receive an invitation link to reapply from Deborah Clark, Woods Fund Chicago’s Director of Grants Management.
New Applicants:
Please read our core grantmaking priorities and criteria here before applying. If you are interested in applying, please click here to receive a link to create an account on GivingData. This step must be completed before submitting a funding request via GivingData.

Below is a timeline of our Fall Core 2023 grantmaking cycle:
Monday, May 15: Grants portal opens for core grantmaking funding requests.
Friday, June 9: Grants portal closes for core grantmaking funding requests.
June-July: Site visits with Program Officers.
Early August: Staff grant recommendations/allocations meeting.
Late August: Staff present grant recommendations to Program Committee.
Late September: Board votes on consent agenda, which includes grant recommendations.
Early October: Program Officers notify grantee partners of award decisions and inform them that the Director of Grants Management will send the Grant Award Letter and Grant Agreement via DocuSign.
Early or mid-October: Director of Grants Management sends the Grant Award.
Letter and Grant Agreement via DocuSign to returning and new grantee partners. All grantee partners must submit a signed Grant Award Agreement with their banking information before we can release the funds.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month! Woods Fund Chicago gives a special shout-out to AAPI communities and their invaluable contributions that are integral to our city and country's cultural, social, economic, and political landscape. We appreciate the rich diversity of cultures and experiences that comprise AAPI communities, and we uplift the leadership of grantee partners of Asian American and Pacific Islander descent this month and all year-round.
