Dear colleagues,
As you are likely reading and hearing, there is a significant amount of activity by the new presidential administration, some of which may affect university operations, including research funding. Our teams here and in Washington, D.C., are working to assess any potential impacts of these changes and ensure that Vanderbilt is well-positioned to continue our mission to provide a transformative education and conduct pathbreaking research.
While new administrations typically pause some agency funding activities while the incoming team gets up to speed, we are seeing a longer pause than usual under this administration. We understand there is a lot of uncertainty around these developments, and they raise concerns and questions for many of you. As always, university leaders will be available to answer your questions and provide updates and guidance.
At this time, please continue to carry out activities on active federally funded grants and contracts unless you are notified otherwise by university leaders or your federal funding agency.
Again, we are actively engaged at the federal level. This is a fluid situation, and we are committed to keeping you informed as we learn more.
Thank you for your commitment to Vanderbilt and our shared mission.
Sincerely,
Daniel Diermeier
