Meet at the Well and Celebration for Sallia Bandy
Pot Luck Lunch this Sunday, May 18, following the late service.
We have a special tradition called Meet at the Well twice a year. It’s a potluck lunch where we come together to hear from our leaders and share some important things about leadership in the church. This time, we’ll be focusing on Sallia’s amazing ministry among us over the past 17 years.
We need your help in making sure this is a great celebration! Because it is a potluck luncheon, we are asking you to sign up for what you are bringing so we can have a good variety of dishes. If you are signing up for dessert, please note that Sallia LOVES pie!
You can sign up for the potluck luncheon HERE.
We’re also collecting a love offering for Sallia, and you’re more than welcome to mark your check, envelope, or online donation “Love Offering.” It would mean the world to us if you could join us!
Also, all are invited to make your way to the second floor to take a look at the exciting results of our building refresh—including the beautifully repaired cupola, brand-new flooring, and freshly painted walls!

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, we will have a special opportunity to view wood creations by Christian artisans in and around the Holy Land. The Rishmawi Family, authorized to represent them, will showcase their olive wood carvings.
Olive wood carvings in the Holy Land date back to the 12th century. However, recent difficulties in the Middle East have reduced tourism, causing hardship for the Christian community. This has led to a significant decline in the Christian population, from 25% fifteen years ago to 2% today.
Visit their display tables to view some of the finest handcrafts from the Holy Land. The Rishmawi Family aims to bring these beautiful carvings to our church.
You can view these items online at http://www.bethlehem-art.com/

“We call on our churches worldwide to recognize that the very presence of the Christian communities in the Holy Land is threatened by the severity of the present conflict and by the economic devastation the conflict has caused. When the Mother Church is endangered, the entire Church must be involved “
The Christian Bishops of Jerusalem

Have you ever seen an unhoused person on the street and thought, “They just need to get a job!”? Did you know you can’t get a job without an ID? You can’t rent an apartment without an ID. You can’t get government benefits such as Social Security or VA without an ID. You can’t get a birth certificate without an ID and you can’t get an ID without a birth certificate. And you can’t get any of these without a street mailing address, which you can’t get ..you guessed it…without an ID.
The unhoused face many obstacles on their road to getting their lives back on track because they have no means to navigate the systems in place. That’s where Navigation Services of Georgetown comes in to help!
Join us on Sunday, June 1 at 10:00 in the church office area to hear Michele Augustine tell us how this non-profit assists the unhoused with whatever needs they may have. You’ll find out about the systemic problems, as well as how our Christian community can help. For more information, contact Beverly Smythia at 409-351-8332 or bsmythia@gmail.com.
