Workday Project Update

Issue 4

Dear colleagues,

With 2024 almost behind us, we’re reaching the midpoint of the Workday implementation process. I’m continually impressed by the project team’s incredible efforts and commitment to excellence. Their tireless work has brought us to this pivotal point in our Workday journey and has helped keep us on track toward our goal of transforming our HR and financial processes to make work easier for everyone at William & Mary.

In this issue, we give a glimpse of the crucial work that has been done this month during the customer confirmation sessions. These sessions have been instrumental in refining our processes. After a well-deserved break, we are well-positioned to continue on our path for a successful go-live this summer.

Please join me in thanking the project team for their fantastic work so far. Enjoy the holiday season, recharge, and get ready for the exciting months ahead.

Sincerely,

Peggy Agouris
Provost

Project update

Throughout December, project stakeholders have been engaging in Customer Confirmation Sessions, where they dive deep into modifiable business processes and execute vital configuration optimizations. These dynamic sessions are pivotal in ensuring that our system not only meets but exceeds the needs of William & Mary. By meticulously validating and refining our configuration, we are set to make strategic, informed decisions that will propel our project to new heights.

No more paper timesheets!

Workday natively allows for editing timesheets from prior pay periods, and it adjusts benefits withholdings.

By the numbers

On December 12th, the project team celebrated their accomplishments to this point. The Workday Project Management Office presented an update with key metrics and milestones achieved, showcasing everyone's dedication. As we finalize configurations and prepare for the next phases, we’ll continue to celebrate our collective effort.

Q&A with Sidne

Streamlining processes, amplifying impact

The university’s implementation of Workday will significantly improve efficiency across various departments. Many of us have creative and strategic projects on our lists that seem to never rise to the top because they are always getting pushed down by routine tasks. Once implemented, Workday will automate those routine tasks, freeing up valuable time for employees to engage in more meaningful and impactful work. This shift not only enhances productivity but also empowers employees to take ownership of their roles, driving innovation and growth.

The adoption of Workday underscores the university’s commitment to improving efficiency while enriching the work experience for the W&M community. This technological advancement ensures that our employees remain motivated and have more time to dedicate to achieving excellence.
