Dear Eagle Nation,
Last week, I had the distinct honor of welcoming the largest first-year class to Coppin State University since my arrival. At this year’s Convocation, the Class of 2028 made a powerful and unforgettable entrance into the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium, proudly embodying their theme Eagles Amplified. Their enthusiasm, energy, and determination were undeniable as they embarked on the first steps of their academic journey, ready to make their mark on our vibrant university community.

The Class of 2028 has embraced the call to be scholars, engaged, and contributing members of Coppin State. Their eagerness to learn, grow, and amplify their voices signals the start of a transformative journey—not just for themselves, but for the ongoing legacy of Coppin State University. I am excited to see how this remarkable class will enrich our campus, challenge themselves, and take full advantage of the incredible opportunities that lay ahead.

Charia Roberts
Charia Roberts, a graduate student and student-athlete, is excelling both in the classroom and on the court as she works toward a career in national security. She recently secured an internship with Homeland Security in Baltimore, perfectly aligning with her law enforcement goals.

Through the Homeland Security Volunteer Program, Charia is gaining hands-on experience in community outreach, security trend analysis, and disaster preparedness drills.

Alongside sharpening her skills in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving, she continues to show the same dedication in her athletic pursuits. Charia’s ability to balance the demands of being a student-athlete while preparing for a future in national security is truly inspiring.
