⏰ Summer fun: Downtown Skokie is open late on Thursdays! 

The Village is launching a new Expanded Hours Pilot Program that will open Village Hall early one day each week for select services.

Beginning Wednesday, May 21, Skokie Village Hall will open at 7 a.m. every Wednesday, offering residents expanded access to key Village services prior to the standard business hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During early hours, services will be available from the Finance Department and Building and Inspection Services Division. Residents will be able to:

The Village is inviting residents of all ages to share their creative designs for a new Village flag.

Deadline: Tuesday, September 30, 2025. 

Why now? The current flag features the same imagery as the previous Village seal, which was officially updated in March. It’s now time to design a new flag.

How to submit a design:

Who can enter: Skokie residents (60076, 60077, 60203) or students attending school in Skokie. Finalists will be selected by a panel of local professionals.

Major improvements to Old Orchard Road will continue throughout 2025.

Celebrate Skokie’s cultural diversity at the Festival of Cultures this weekend, May 17 and 18, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Oakton Park.

What to expect: The free event will include interactive cultural booths, food and beverage vendors, live performances, the festival’s famous flag display, and a Festival of Colors finale (Sunday at 5:45 p.m.). View the event schedule.

Bringing kids? Accompanied by a guardian, children under 4 are welcome for free, and children ages 4 to 15 can enter with the purchase of a half-price ticket at the gate.

Skokie Health and Human Services is partnering with Howard Brown Health to host a free HIV and STI pop-up clinic on Monday, May 19, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Skokie Village Hall. 

All are welcome: Walk-ins are available, and no insurance is required.
