UW-Whitewater among nation’s best online programs |
UW-Whitewater was recently ranked among the top 70 in the nation in six categories among more than 1,800 schools surveyed by the U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2025 Best Online Programs rankings. Programs in the College of Business and Economics account for five of the categories.

Liberation Starts Here: Bringing the Dream to Life
|
Join us this Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the University Center Hamilton Room for “Liberation Starts Here: Bringing the Dream to Life” with Victoria Alexander, an expert in anti-racist education and intersectional justice. The event is free and open to all students, faculty, staff and community members.

| Inclusivity and belonging workshops offered this spring
|
UW-Whitewater is one of two higher education institutions in Wisconsin to provide National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) workshops. These inclusivity and belonging workshops, open to all, are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7 (spots still open!), Friday, March 21, and Wednesday, April 9.

| Winther/Heide project public meeting
|
A draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report has been prepared for the Winther and Heide Halls Entry Additions and Renovations project and will be available for public comment Feb. 3-18. A public meeting to present the Draft EIA will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m.

Theatre students recognized at regional conference
|
Three UW-Whitewater students were honored for their outstanding achievements at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Region 3 conference on Jan. 7-11 in Madison.

Roster set for 2025 Warhawk gymnastics team
|
A total of 28 student-athletes are competing for the UW-Whitewater gymnastics team during the 2025 season, which began Jan. 10.

| UW-Whitewater announces 2024-25 Vocal Jazz Ensemble
|
A total of 21 students are part of UW-Whitewater’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble for the 2024-25 academic year.

Kudos to Alicia de Gregorio, professor of world languages and cultures, who has published her essay, “Enfermedad, vivienda e higiene en el Madrid de La horda de Vicente Blasco Ibáñez,” in the peer-reviewed volume “ENSAYOS CULTURALES SOBRE LA ENFERMEDAD."
Kudos to Jacky Thomson, financial aid officer, who was recognized by the Fund for Wisconsin Scholars State Office for her leadership with the Fund for Wisconsin Scholars Program. Rokihya Cannedy, UW-Whitewater peer mentor for the Fund for Wisconsin Scholars, said of Jacky, "She is very considerate and hands-on, especially when finding students to accept the grant. She does a lot for our events and the grant program, and we all appreciate her so much."

Jodie Parys, professor of world languages and cultures, was featured in a Lake Mills Leader article after traveling with a group to Guatemala to volunteer for ProChapina, a nonprofit organization that supports entrepreneurial opportunities for Guatemalan women. UW-Whitewater’s Enactus and American Marketing Association chapters also support ProChapina.
