| Parish Office Closure: The Parish Office will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. There will be no public recitation of Morning Prayer in the Chapel of Saint Jude.
Sunday School Pool Party: All Sunday school children and their families are invited to an end-of-year celebration on Sunday, May 31, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Come enjoy time together as we wrap up a wonderful year of learning, friendship, and faith! Final Choral Evensong of the Season: The final Evensong of the 2025-2026 season will take place on Sunday, May 31, at 5:00 p.m. The liturgy will feature Herbert Howells’ monumental Evening Service for Saint Paul’s Cathedral, London, as well as works by Stephen Caracciolo, William Mathias, and Thomas Tallis. A reception will follow. After the customary summer recess, Evensong will resume on Sunday, October 4, and continue on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of the month through May 2027.
Saturday Night Supper: On Saturday, June 6, Christ Church parishioners will gather at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Georgetown to prepare a hot meal for roughly 60 neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. Set up begins at 4:00 p.m., dinner is served at 5:00 p.m., and clean up is completed by 6:15 p.m. Additional volunteers, especially those who are able to provide food, are needed. Summer Sunday: On Sunday, June 7, we will mark the conclusion of the 2025-2026 program year with a combined celebration of the Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m. The liturgy will include the commissioning of participants in this summer’s youth mission trip to Asheville, North Carolina and adult mission trip to Kenya. It will be followed by a festive, pot-luck picnic in the C. Boyden Gray Auditorium. NOTE: There will be no services at 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., 11:15 a.m., or 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7. Nursery care will be available from 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
America250 Closing Celebration: Christ Church’s observance of America250 will conclude on Sunday, June 28 with a special service of Morning Prayer at 11:15 a.m. The liturgy will include patriotic music and prayers for the nation. It will be followed by a festive reception in the C. Boyden Gray Auditorium. All parishioners and members of the wider community are cordially invited to attend.

| Bite-sized Bible Study: Join fellow parents of nursery and Sunday School-aged children for a team-led, 30-minute exploration of the Book of Acts. The group gathers on Sundays, at 10:15 a.m., in the Memorial Room. Nursery care for infants and toddlers, as well as music formation classes for older children, is provided during this time. Centering Prayer: All are invited to participate in a weekly, community-led time of centering prayer and Lectio Divina on Tuesdays, from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m., via Zoom. Drawn from the monastic tradition, these practices offer an intentional way for individuals to make themselves available to God, acknowledging that “we do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us.” Join the video call here. Eastertide Book Study: The Saint Francis Guild, Christ Church’s animal welfare and creation care mission group, invites parishioners and members of the wider community to participate in an eight-week-long, online book study on Wednesdays, at 6:30 p.m. Led by Dr. Susan Bond, attendees are delving into For the Love of Animals by Charles Camosy, an exploration of God’s desire for our treatment of fellow creatures. Calling all Veterans and Active Duty Parishioners: The Rector and other parish leaders are considering the formation of a Veterans Affinity Mission Group at Christ Church, as well as the organization of a special dinner on Veterans Day, November 11. Thrift Shop Update: The Christ Church Thrift Shop, located on the Lower Level of Linthicum Hall, is in dire need of your assistance as inventory has reached a critical low. Please consider donating your unused or unwanted treasures at this time: clothing, jewelry, antiques, china, glassware, household items, etc. The Thrift Shop is open on Wednesdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Donations are accepted on Wednesdays during the Thrift Shop’s normal hours of operation or by appointment via the Parish Office. Thrift Shop volunteers have begun offering a home pick-up service on Sundays for those who live within one mile of Christ Church. To schedule an appointment, click here.
Garden Service Update: Due to significantly increased attendance at the 9:00 a.m. Eucharist, a wonderfully positive trend in the parish, the Rector has decided that the service will not move into the Chapel Garden this summer. This difficult decision is also based, in part, on the fact that a number of families with small children were not able to attend the Garden Service last summer due to high temperatures. The clergy and staff are exploring the possibility of periodic services in the Chapel Garden.
Altar Flowers: If you would like to make a contribution to help offset the cost of the flowers that will adorn the altar on a particular Sunday or feast day, contact the Parish Office. The Flower Guild accepts contributions in memory of the departed, in celebration of births, and in thanksgiving for the reception of Christian sacraments. Contributions marking private secular celebrations are welcome, but they will not be acknowledged in service leaflets or the Prayers of the People. In such cases, donors are encouraged to let loved ones know of their contribution with a greeting card. The suggested donation is $150.
