Join CAPS staff for a 90-minute skills session to help you become more than your anxious thoughts. You’ll learn more about anxious thoughts, what they do for and to you, and learn some skills to better manage the thoughts that sometimes get in your way. This is an interactive, skills-focused session with time to practice some of the skills discussed.

Restoring Our Landscapes

This community group, led by Daniel Lassman, aims to cultivate connections among community members interested in native plants as well as practitioners of Restoration Ecology. This group’s goal is to connect people with resources on how to restore ecosystems ranging from small outdoor spaces to large landscapes, and empower each other to teach and learn together in a space of mutual support. Field trips are an optional learning opportunity often incorporated into monthly meetups, as weather permits. Anyone is welcome to join in and share their knowledge and learn something new.

Former KU industrial design professor May Tveit creates large-scale sculptural installations and works on paper that transform everyday commercial and industrial materials into geometric abstractions. Her nationally exhibited work explores the intersections of art, design, architecture, and human experience.  

Poppy DeltaDawn: The Apology 

Vulpes Bastille Gallery | 1737 Locust St, Kansas City, MO, United States, Missouri 

The Apology is the second chapter of The Trial of Socrates, a two-part exhibition staged between New York City and Kansas City in longstanding artist-run spaces. 

Poppy DeltaDawn is an artist and writer working across weaving, video, and land-based practices. Her work investigates the relationship between material culture, ecological systems, and identity, examining how land use and craft encode knowledge and power.

Christian Thompson: Future Ancestor | Spencer Museum of Art

In Future Ancestor, Thompson creates a multimedia installation that weaves together history, language, and imagined futures. Blurring the boundaries between storytelling and visual culture, voice and gesture, Thompson’s artistic practice becomes a method of language preservation and cultural survival, allowing Bidjara to resonate across generations.

Jayhawks Abroad Scholarship 

The Jayhawks Abroad Scholarship is through the Study Abroad and Global Engagement Office and can award $200,000 worth of scholarships to students. The scholarship is merit based, which requires students to have a 3.5 GPA or above, and a Need Based which requires a FASFA to be on file.

The M+H Scholarship will annually award one $5,000 scholarship to a student studying architecture or interior design at an NAAB-accredited school of Architecture or a CIDA-accredited Interior Design program.

- Must be in their third, fourth or fifth year of school

Other times, we think of flowers, birds, or hearts. The Lawrence Arts Center invites artists to submit artwork that relates to the subject/color “red” which is open to the artist’s interpretation.

Off-Site Art Space is holding an open call for Decorative Digitalism III: Student Exhibition, a juried show opening on Thursday, September 24th, in conjunction with Decorative Digitalism III at Edgar Heap of Birds. The call is open to undergraduate and graduate students taking classes in the Department of Visual Art. We are seeking submissions for artwork that utilizes digital tools (such as CAD/CAM, laser cutting, 3D printing, and CNC processes) in its fabrication. All mediums are accepted.
