Update on the Roll Out the Red Carpet campaign
Thanks to all who participated in this campaign! Your support helped strengthen the Quick’s presence as a vital artistic hub where lovers of the arts can experience exceptional performances, young minds are nurtured and cultivated, and artists of diverse backgrounds find a supportive space to create.
We are delighted to report that critical improvements occurred on our stage over the summer as part of our Roll Out the Red Carpet campaign. Thanks to your support, we were able to replace the black flats in the wings of the Kelley Theatre, which will dramatically improve the quality of the sound for concerts and musical performances at the Quick Center. This fall, you can also be on the lookout for new furniture, new screens, and a new reading area in the lobby—all provided to help create a comfortable and welcoming space while you wait for the show to begin.
Best of all, this is just the first stage of a series of improvements coming to the Quick. We look forward to keeping you informed of our progress as we continue to modernize and elevate our space so you can enjoy artistic experiences of the highest quality in the best possible environment.

THE QUICK BOOKSTORE RETURNS
The season has begun and we can’t wait to see you.
We invite you to dive deeply into the big ideas and themes in our current and upcoming productions through selected books in our renovated Quick Center bookstore, curated this season by Sean F. Edgecomb, PhD, associate professor of Theatre, resident director and co-producer of Theatre Fairfield.
As Sean shares, “The Quick Center’s 2023-24 season is a wide-reaching exploration of diverse performance, some global and some local, some more intimate and some expansive. In curating this book list, I have tried to follow an equally inclusive approach in my selection of recommended texts, liberally combining scholarly monographs, edited collections and critical histories alongside a novel, a children’s book, a genre-defying compendium, and even a hybrid culinary history/cookbook. As a new member of the Fairfield University faculty, I am particularly invigorated by the Quick’s commitment to transformation— transformation of performance into knowledge, transformation of how we live, see and engage with the world, and transformation committed to building a better, kinder community. As we near the end of the first quarter of the twentieth century we face myriad crises, but I hope that in our time at the Quick we can all find a few hours of respite and enjoyment as well as a renewed, active arts-driven commitment to go into the world, be kind, and do good. Happy reading.”
Arrive early to peruse our selections. If you’re a Quick Center Member, enjoy an additional 10% off of all Quick Bookstore purchases the month of October (some exceptions may apply).

STUDENT EXPERIENCES AT THE QUICK

Marketing and Communications Intern
As part of our mission, the Quick Center for the Arts is dedicated to serving Fairfield University students, and providing a space for connection, learning, and meaningful dialogue. Each season we welcome students as audience members, workshop participants, staff, and interns.
This fall we were excited to welcome back Gabrielle Villa, who had previously interned with the Quick in the fall of 2022 before participating in the University’s Study Abroad program in Florence, Italy. Originally from Niantic, CT, Gabrielle is majoring in public relations while pursuing minors in marketing and politics.
When we asked Gabrielle to share more about why she wanted to intern at the Quick and which event she was looking forward to this fall she shared, “I've always had a passion for theatre, and my time at the Quick has allowed me to pair that with my interest in marketing. I have expanded my professional skills while in an environment I know and love.”
Gabrielle continued, “I am looking forward to seeing Broken Chord this November at the Quick. Gregory Maqoma has choreographed performances from the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off to the World Summit of Arts and Culture, and I am so excited to see his talents in person!”
