More than 800 students will receive their degrees this Saturday, Dec. 14, at 10 a.m. at the 2024 December commencement ceremony inside Kachel Fieldhouse at the Williams Center.

Warhawk volleyball finishes as national runner-up |
The UW-Whitewater volleyball team finished its 2024 season Saturday as the runner-up at the NCAA Division III Championship. The Warhawks, who finished the season with a 31-4 record, knocked off two of the top three seeds on their way to the title match.

The Warhawk Success Conference, which focuses on building strategies to support student success and enhancing cross-campus relationships and collaborations, is set for Feb. 14. Registration — which is open to all UW-Whitewater faculty and staff — will open Jan. 2.

The UW-Whitewater wheelchair basketball programs announced their rosters for the current season. Alums from both programs competed at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games over the summer.

Kudos to Amanda Krier-Jenkins, associate director of university housing, who recently served as chair-elect to the Association of College and University Housing Officers — International (ACUHO-I) Academic Initiatives Conference hosted in Portland, Oregon. Krier-Jenkins, who also facilitated a featured workshop titled “Advancing Holistic Support in the Residential Conduct Process,” will serve as the chair of the 2025 conference in St. Louis, Missouri.

Kudos to Joshua Knapp, professor of management, who co-authored a research paper, “Pet Peeves and Sensemaking at Work,” that will appear in the Journal of Management Inquiry. This research is the first to examine pet peeves as a formal academic construct in any field.

Ellie Schemenauer, associate professor of women’s studies and chair of the women’s and gender studies department, was named a recipient of the 2024 Dr. P.B. Poorman Award for Outstanding Achievement on Behalf of LGBTQ+ People. Schemenauer was recognized by the Universities of Wisconsin on Dec. 4 in Madison.
