Introducing: The We Need Third Coast Campaign

More than ever, the audio industry needs experimentation, new opportunities for makers at every level of their careers, and places to uplift and celebrate narrative craft. Those are also core values of the Third Coast Competition, a year-long program that seeks to disrupt hierarchies in the industry and uplift the most remarkable work being made today.

Third Coast has faced a fair number of challenges over the past few years, but none bigger than our current moment. In late 2023, after our most successful Call for Entries ever, we learned suddenly that our 23-year financial supporter would no longer be funding the Third Coast Competition.

Now, Third Coast is calling on the community’s help — your help — to kickstart a year-long fundraising effort to increase financial investment at every level of our organization. This is just the first step to build investment in Third Coast as a community-centered institution. Can you help us raise $50,000 to re-launch the independent Third Coast Competition in 2024 — a program that we believe offers so much of what the audio community needs right now?

We have just two months to pull together as a community and raise $50,000 to make an independent 2024-25 Third Coast Competition a reality. All the while, we’ll be sharing stories from the makers with critical perspectives on the industry. Stay tuned for more testimonials from members of our audio community.

This is also such a challenging time in the industry for all, and we want to offer something back to our community. We plan to offer free ad-hoc Audio Doctor Office Hours, inspired by a long-time program from the Third Coast Conference, to give individual makers the opportunity to meet one-on-one with veteran makers to connect over the craft and discuss current projects These will be first-come, first-serve, and available through this newsletter.
