| From the Associate Vice Provost |
Dear Creighton Colleagues,
Artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content (e.g., ChatGPT, Bard, etc.), and its related apps are an issue heating up in faculty interest across academia, including Creighton. You may have seen Guy McHendry’s (Communication Studies) interview on WOWT (see Creighton Today for the video), as well as articles in the Chronicle, Insider Higher Ed, Time, professional organizations, blogs, and other venues. So, what’s up with this? How does it work? What are both the potentially positive and nefarious uses of this for us? These and other questions are the focus of a task force within the CCAT University committee (Committee on Computing & Academic Computing). More information, and I’m sure more questions, will be coming very soon: teaching/learning resources, research resources and expectations, faculty development programming, policy recommendations, etc., are all in discussion. If you have any questions or ideas, please reach out to your college/school representative on CCAT (email me if you need to know that is). Not sure how that is? Contact me at debraford@creighton.edu. More coming soon!
Debbie Ford, PhD Associate Vice Provost-Center for Faculty Excellence

eLearning Staff Spotlight: Audel Salazar, Instructional Designer |
I started out as an Instructional Design Assistant with the CFE back when I was in Graduate School, January 2017, and became an Instructional Designer after I graduated. I primarily support the School of Dentistry, the Graduate Paramedicine program, and the Physical Therapy programs in Omaha and Phoenix. I love building collaborative relationships and empowering faculty to use Creighton's educational technologies to challenge and engage students in critical thinking. I earned both my bachelor's degree in history and my master's degree in East-West Studies at Creighton University. I am also actively involved in numerous campus organizations, such as the Kingfisher Institute and the Staff Advisory Council. Outside of work, I enjoy meditating, CrossFit, running marathons, and spending quality family time with my wife and son.

Appointment Scheduler Feature in BlueLine Calendar: |
The Calendar within BlueLine is an often overlooked, but valuable tool for both instructors and students. One helpful feature is the appointment scheduler. Instructors can set up individual time slots at specified intervals. Students receive a notification that sign-ups are available and can select a time that works for them. This is a great option for one-on-one conferences, presentation sign-ups, and more!
