The CSD's former Diversity and Program Administrator for Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, Edward Alexander has taken a position at Harvard University and wanted to say goodbye to the CSD students.

Gates Summer Internship ProgramInspired by years of positive experiences with summer interns in Gates Center laboratories, Drs. Tamara Terzian, Neil Box and Enrique Torchia thoughtfully conceived an official internship program to inspire outstanding young college undergraduates to pursue careers in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Interns will earn $6,500 and work full time at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.
The application opened December 1st and will close on February 6th, 2023.

Opportunities
- Apply to be an IRLI Summer Scholar where undergraduate students can collaborate with Tufts faculty or staff on research into learning and instruction. The program provides a stipend of $5,200 to each undergraduate participant for 10 weeks of full-time research (35 hours per week). In addition, there is a needs-based housing subsidy of $1,500 if you choose to live on-campus during the summer.

- Apply to conduct an independent STEM education research project this summer with TERC! As par of a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU), projects will focus on fostering equity in STEM and STEM education and enhancing transformative social justice.

- The StAAR Center is hiring! They need tutors for math, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science; tutors are paid $15/hr on a flexible schedule, and can expect to attend an onboarding training on Saturday, January 21st from 1:00-3:30pm. If you're interested, reach out to Katherine Swimm at katherine.swimm@tufts.edu.
- The CSD and the Center for Science Education (CSE) present a summer research and mentorship opportunity for 4 Tufts sophomores and juniors to participate as SEPA STEM Mentors in a National Institute of Health funded program called Mini-Med Connect. SEPA STEM Mentors will be placed in a research lab of their choice for a summer internship while they provide near-peer mentorship to Boston high school students enrolled in the Mini-Med Connect program. Compensation of $4,460, which can be used for housing, food, and transportation, is provided.

- Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston is hiring Reserach Assistants for the spring and summer 2023! The position may be of particular interest to students who are interested in pursuing careers in research, medicine, public health, medical economics, and related fields. No prior research experience is required. They hire on a rolling basis, therefore applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Applications open the first week of January, and require a resume, cover letter and unofficial transcript. There is also an opportunity to explain any extenuating circumstances you have faced during your education in an optional essay.
