Dear colleagues,
Last week, President Rowe shared an FAQ page to keep our community informed about the evolving federal policy landscape. Please continue to check this resource on the first and 15th of each month for the latest updates. As ever, I am grateful for your commitment to your students and to W&M’s mission and values. The work that you do each day benefits every member of the W&M community and further builds upon our proud legacy of academic excellence. Thank you.

Here are the top “5 Things to Know” this week:
|
-
The University-Wide AI Policy Initiative (AIPI) is seeking faculty perspectives on the use of AI. I encourage you to attend the town hall meeting this Thursday, March 6th, from 3:30–5:00 pm in the Commonwealth Auditorium in the Sadler Center. You are also welcome to share your thoughts in the AIPI feedback form.
- Be sure to experience “The Genesis of the Sistine,” the extraordinary new exhibition opening this week at the Muscarelle Museum of Art. The exhibit will run through May 28th and feature Michelangelo Buonarotti’s preliminary sketches for the frescoes he painted on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
- Applications for the Reveley Interdisciplinary Faculty Fellows program are open through March 19th. All full-time, continuing faculty are eligible to apply. More information is located on the Faculty Affairs & Development website.
-
Please note that the deadline to apply for the Faculty Early Retirement Incentive Plan is March 7th at 5 p.m. A transitioning to retirement workshop is scheduled for March 6th from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in Blow 201. A virtual option is available. Dr. Roger Baldwin is the featured speaker, and a panel of emeritus faculty will be included.
-
This week’s shoutout goes to the many fabulous individuals working behind the scenes to bring W&M’s Year of the Environment to life. As Dean Derek Aday shared in his message to the campus community last week, the Year of the Environment website continues to be updated with the latest information and resources related to the year ahead.

This will be my last weekly message before spring break. In these rather fluid times, I hope you find moments of rest, connection, and renewal. I wish safe trips to those of you traveling, and for everyone, the chance to recharge and do something that brings you joy!
