SPECIAL NOTICES
Georgetown Garden Tour: On Saturday, May 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the Georgetown Garden Club will once again sponsor its annual tour of the neighborhood’s most unique private gardens. Afternoon tea will be served at Christ Church from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here. All proceeds will benefit the parks, recreation facilities, and green spaces of Georgetown.
Sunday School: On Sunday, May 11, Sunday School classes will meet in Keith Hall. Our family friendly coffee hour will immediately follow in the Chapel Garden.
Feeding Ministry: Christ Church’s Feeding Ministry will next provide a meal to those in need on Sunday, May 11. Parishioners of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Volunteers prepare food in Keith Hall from 4:00 to 6:15 p.m. Grate Patrol volunteers then partner with the Salvation Army to deliver and serve the food from 6:15 to 8:00 p.m. To volunteer, sign up here.
Faith and Foreign Policy: The next installment in Christ Church’s ongoing Faith and Foreign Policy series will take place on Monday, May 12, at 6:30 p.m., when we will welcome parishioner and retired foreign service officer Matt Boyse, who served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. In this capacity, Boyce oversaw U.S. policy toward central Europe and the Office of the Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues. He is now a senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, and a faculty member at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies and The George Washington University. The session will be moderated by parishioner Bill Courtney. Light refreshments will be served. To register, click here.
Lux Choir in Concert: Join members of Lux, an award-winning chamber choir founded and directed by former Christ Church chorister Robby Napoli, for the final concert of their tenth anniversary season. The program, entitled To the Hands, will feature works by Caroline Shaw and Dietrich Buxtehude accompanied by a string ensemble. The concert will take place on Saturday, May 17, 7:30 p.m., at the Church of the Ascension and Saint Agnes: 1215 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. For more information or to purchase tickets, click here.
Choral Evensong: The final service of Choral Evensong  of the 2024-2025 season will take place on Sunday, May 18, at 5:00 p.m. It will include works by Stephen Caracciolo, Herbert Howells, and John Rutter. A reception will follow. Do join us… and bring a friend! NOTE: This service will be the last with Christ Church’s current organ, which has served the liturgical and musical needs of the parish for more than 25 years. During the months of June and July, two new sound systems — speech reinforcement and acoustical enhancement — and a new organ will be installed in the Nave. For more information about this exciting project, contact Organist and Choirmaster Thomas Smith.
GENERAL NOTICES
Thursday Morning Bible Study: Parishioners of all ages and stages of life are invited to this fortnightly study of selected psalms, co-led by parishioners Ernest Clark, Virginia Mentz, and David Straut. Sessions will take place on Thursdays, May 8 and 22, and June 5, at 8:00 a.m., in Keith Hall. Preparation for discussions is beneficial, but not essential.
Young Professionals Happy Hour: The next Young Professionals Happy Hour will take place on Thursday, May 8, 6:00 p.m., at Le Bar à Vin (at Chez Billy Sud): 1039 31st Street, NW. All parishioners in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, along with family members, friends, and colleagues, are invited to attend. For more information, contact Father Nate Huddleston.
Diocesan Confirmation Liturgy: On Saturday, May 10, at 10:00 a.m., 15 parishioners will be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church during a diocesan liturgy at Washington National Cathedral. Your prayers and presence are requested.
Bite-sized Bible Study: Join fellow parents of nursery and Sunday School-aged children for a team-led, 30-minute exploration of the Book of Psalms. The group gathers on Sundays, at 10:15 a.m., in Suite Two (Church building, 3rd Floor). Nursery care for infants and toddlers, as well as supervised, age-appropriate activities for older children, will be provided this Sunday in the Chapel of Saint Jude. For more information, contact parishioners Julia Ainsley, Megan Murton, or Matthew Fredericks.
Women’s Bible Study: All women of the parish and their guests are invited to participate in an exploration of the Book of Exodus, a captivating and poetic narrative that tells the story of God’s liberation of his people from slavery in Egypt and his gift of the law at Mount Sinai. The group will meet on Tuesdays, May 13 and June 10, at 6:00 p.m., in Keith Hall. Those who are unable to attend in person are welcome to participate virtually. For more information, contact Deacon Tiffany Clark.
Wind Down Wednesday: On the second Wednesday of each month, the women of Christ Church are invited to join members of the clergy and staff, and fellow parishioners for food, beverages, and the opportunity to create lasting bonds amidst the busyness of everyday life. The next gathering will take place today, Wednesday, May 14, 6:00 p.m., at Millie’s. Family members, friends, and neighbors are most welcome! For more information, contact Chrissy Casey.
Altar Flowers: If you would like to make a contribution to help offset the cost of the flowers that will adorn the altar on a particular Sunday or feast day, contact the Parish Office. The Flower Guild accepts contributions in memory of the departed, in celebration of births, and in thanksgiving for the reception of Christian sacraments. Contributions marking private secular celebrations are welcome, but they will not be acknowledged in service leaflets or the Prayers of the People. In such cases, donors are encouraged to let loved ones know of their contribution with a greeting card. The suggested donation is $100.
Christ Church Career Connections: Conscious that many in the DC metro area may be between jobs, the clergy have revived a program that aims to connect job seekers with potential employers. If you are looking for work, or know someone who is, Christ Church offers the opportunity to submit your resume to a confidential file. Those looking to hire can request access to relevant resumes and CVs. While we won’t list names publicly, we will share the areas in which people are seeking employment. Whether you’re job hunting or hiring, starting close to home might be a great option. To participate, send your resume and contact the Rector.
If you are looking for people or know of someone who is, we currently have people interested in the following areas; Grant Making, Philanthropic Advice, Non-Profit Management, Broadcast Journalist/ production, Media, Intl/ Gov affairs/ coms / public policy,  National Security/ Crisis Management, HR, Project Management, Government Affairs/ Lobbying, Editing/Admin/Research/Writing, Paralegal or Legal Assistant, and IT.
Christ Church Career Connections is a ministry dedicated to supporting parishioners and those they would vouch for in seasons of vocational transition. Through networking, mentorship, prayer, and practical resources, we walk alongside one another in the search for meaningful work and purpose.
