Dear Eagle Nation,
As we kick off the second week of the semester with classes in full swing, it is a great time to grab the opportunities in front of us and keep the energy going. Our students are already jumping into new experiences, getting involved in campus life, and leaving their mark on our community.
On Thursday, September 5, we will officially welcome the Class of 2028 during our 2024 Convocation ceremony. Convocation is about celebrating our new students and setting the stage for their journey ahead.
Students pose together outside of the James Weldon Johnson Auditorium on August 31, 2023.
The theme for the Class of 2028 is Eagles Amplified reflecting the vibrant energy and the call for them to amplify their voices, actions, and presence as they step into this exciting chapter of their lives and make a difference in our world.

Kyrah Odudu

Kyrah Odudu, a graduate student from Coppin State University, has been accepted into the prestigious Orthoptic Fellowship Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), a key part of their Division of Ophthalmology.
“I received a strong foundation at Coppin State University, especially within the Natural Sciences Department. This foundation equipped me with the research skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a competitive and specialized role in healthcare,” said Kyrah.
The two-year fellowship, which began this month, will provide Kyrah with specialized training and hands-on experience in pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, and related fields.
