TCU Announces Bernard Rousseau as Dean of Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences

With leadership at multiple Carnegie R1 universities, at TCU Rousseau will focus on faculty, student success

FORT WORTH, Texas (March 24, 2026) — Bernard Rousseau, Ph.D., MMHC, CCC-SLP, ASHA Fellow joins Texas Christian University (TCU) as the Marilyn and Morgan Davies Dean of the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences. He brings more than 20 years of experience in leadership roles at three Top 100, Carnegie R1 institutions – Vanderbilt University, the University of Pittsburgh and Saint Louis University.

Rousseau is a proven leader in increasing research expenditures, recruiting faculty, appointing leaders, improving rankings, exceeding student retention rates and securing gifts and pledges. His most recent leadership position was as dean of the Edward and Margaret Doisy College of Health Sciences at Saint Louis University, one of the largest colleges at the university. He is a professor of speech, language and hearing sciences.

As dean, Rousseau will build upon Harris College’s renowned nursing and health science enterprise to lead its next phase of growth and development. He will set priorities and pathways to enhance and promote research, community engaged scholarship and excellence in undergraduate, graduate and professional education. He will advance the scholarly activities of the faculty with a philosophy of professionalism and care.

Rousseau has served as dean of the Doisy College of Health Sciences at Saint Louis University, associate dean and department chair in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh, associate vice chair for research in the Department of Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Chancellor Faculty Fellow at Vanderbilt University. He is president of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation, a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and associate fellow of the American Laryngological Association. He earned his B.S. and M.A. in Communicative Disorders from the University of Central Florida, his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Master of Management in Health Care from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management and Clinical Fellowship in Speech-Language Pathology from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
