An Ode to Three Dot Style

by Ted Streuli
Three-dot journalism isn’t something you much anymore. The master was the San Francisco Chronicle’s columnist Herb Caen, who could string together an off-beat anecdote, a weird pun and a bit of political commentary and turn them into a special Pulitzer Prize, which he only referred to as his Pullet Surprise. A series of items and sightems and bumper snickers, each separated from the one that came before with – you guessed it – three dots.

Answer the Call and support the Rotary Red Barn!

Our Annual OnePledge project is the ROTARY RED BARN at RestoreOKC located in Northeast Oklahoma City.  We need your help to raise $75,000 to build a multipurpose barn that will help RestoreOKC increase food access for this community of 34,000, expand fresh food production on a 5-acre urban farm, increase free home repairs for widows and seniors, and create jobs in the community!

This is the only time all year we ask ALL of our members to donate.  The OnePledge campaign also funds scholarships for Junior Rotarians and our Literacy Project. Our total goal is $100,000.
Please watch the video to learn more about this incredible project and join us in supporting OnePledge!

Nomination Committee Seeking Candidates

The Nomination committee has begun its work to select candidates to appear on the ballot in November for officers and directors for the 2022-23 Rotary year when Wes Milbourn will be President. The committee is carefully considering a pool of potential candidates who have been engaged club members and demonstrated an interest in leadership in the club. However, to ensure that we are making our selection from the deepest pool of qualified candidates, we would welcome anyone interested in serving to reach out.

If you are interested in being considered for a position on the ballot, please let Megan Law know by email no later than 5:00 pm on October 22. To be eligible, a club member must have been a member of Club 29 for at least three years at the time of the vote in November.

Sincerely,
Jim Sharrock - Chair
Nomination Committee

 You’re Invited!!

It’s time to start planning that road trip to place down under! No, not Australia, I’m talking about our neighbor to the south, Houston, TX!

I haven’t been in Rotary for a long amount of time by comparison, but in the time I have been in Rotary, I haven’t had the opportunity to make the commitment (time and money) to go to the International Convention. I’ve heard the stories and how exciting it is to see the international landscape in one place. As a Rotarian, it’s definitely a bucket list item, and it’s exciting to know that it will be in our backyard this Rotary year. If there was ever a time to make the time and do it, this is it! Grab ten of your closest Rotarian friends, rent the party bus and head that way!
