Rotary Values are my Family Values
by John Settles
I’ve been very fortunate in my life, beginning with the parents that I was privileged to have. All we have to do these days is watch the evening news or any of the 24 hour news channels to realize that there are many people in the world who were not fortunate enough to have parents whose beliefs and actions demonstrated family values similar to the Rotary Four-Way Test.
My dad, Marshall Settle, was a Rotary member for more than 50 years and had accumulated more than 50 years of perfect attendance when he passed away February 6, 2006. He loved everything about Rotary and never missed an opportunity to talk to his family and friends about the benefits and accomplishments of Rotary.

Rotary Magazine - February 2023
Nearly a year has passed since Russia invaded Ukraine, igniting a humanitarian crisis, destabilizing security in Europe, and jolting the global economy. In this issue of Rotary magazine, we bring you an exclusive frontline account of the extraordinary response of Rotary and its members. This first installment of a two-part series begins in Poland, where Rotary members are providing long-term, sustainable care to help refugees address their trauma and reclaim a semblance of normality.

In another of this month's features, find out how a bicycle can offer a ride to a better life. We'll also take you to Lebanon, where Rotary clubs united a deeply divided nation around an ambitious project to provide clean water to schools.
February is Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention Month, and we'll introduce you to a Rotary Peace Fellow from Jerusalem whose search for a purposeful life led him to the U.S. to work in conflict management.

| Rotary Dues Increase - Jan. 1, 2023 - A Message from President Wes
Fellow Rotarians, At the Sept. 27 lunch meeting, we shared some news about a conversation that began over two years ago. Prior to the pandemic, it was clear to our administration committee, budget committee, and board of officers and directors that a dues increase would be necessary for the club to maintain a balanced budget. With the arrival of the pandemic, we were able to delay that conversation. As we’ve seen a return to normal club operations, meetings, and service, we’ve also seen an increase in almost every expense of the club due to inflation and we were forced to revisit the conversation. At the recommendation of our administration and budget committees, the 2021-2022 board of officers and directors approved a dues increase of $15 per quarter, or $5 a month, effective January 1, 2023.
