Dear Campus Community,

Over the past year, ITS has been working to strengthen how we align technology decisions with Colorado College’s institutional priorities and long-term strategy. As our portfolio of work continues to grow in scale and complexity, it has become increasingly important that we move from a reactive model to a structured, strategic decision framework.

After thoughtful planning and cross-campus collaboration, we will be launching a Strategic IT Governance model later this spring.

This governance structure includes representatives from multiple areas of the College and reflects CCs shared governance approach — bringing together expertise, perspectives, and institutional priorities to guide technology decisions collaboratively.

The model is designed to:

  • Ensure technology initiatives align with institutional priorities
  • Improve transparency into project prioritization and resource allocation
  • Provide a consistent, structured review process
  • Strengthening collaboration across divisions

What This Means for You

There is no change to how you submit IT requests. All IT requests should continue to be submitted through tickets: IT Help Requests.

ITS will triage tickets internally. If a request is identified as strategic, enterprise-impacting, or resource-intensive, we will reach out with next steps and guide it through governance review.

As part of this process, decision timelines for larger initiatives may increase slightly. Governance review and prioritization will now be part of our standard operating model. We encourage departments to plan ahead whenever possible to allow time for thoughtful review and sequencing within the ITS portfolio.

More details will be shared after Spring Break.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Khaleel Gathers

Vice President & Chief Information Officer
