Fulbright IEA Grant Enables Young to Explore Internationalization of Higher Education in Taiwan

Joined by a delegation of 24 U.S. colleagues, Associate Vice President of Global Initiatives Dr. Cheryl Young recently met with educational experts in Taiwan as part of a Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) grant

Juwillie Named 2023 Payne Fellow
|
|
|
| Mona-Mae Juwillie (Class of 2019), was named a 2023 recipient of the Payne International Development Fellowship.
The Payne Fellowship Program provides support to outstanding individuals who are interested in pursuing careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Welsh Awarded 'Fund for Education Abroad' Scholarship
|
|
|
| Junior psychology major and digital marketing minor Emmanuella Welsh was named a recipient of the NAFSA Tamara H. Bryant Memorial Scholarship, awarded through the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA).
Welsh will travel to South Korea this summer, where she plans to study marketing through ISEP Direct Summer in Seoul at Hanyang University.

CCA Global Readiness Certificate Cohort Announced
|
|
|
|
Global Initiatives is pleased to introduce the latest Global Readiness Certificate Cohort, consisting of 24 students from the College of Creative Arts (CCA).
According to Program Coordinator Alicia Castillo Shrestha, there are currently over 60 students in the program from five different cohorts including the College of Education, Health, and Society; Farmer School of Business; College of Arts and Science; College of Liberal Arts and Applied Sciences; and now, the College of Creative Arts. Fifteen students have graduated with the certificate.

Global Initiatives Staff Present at "Across the Divide" Conference
|
|
|
|
Several Global Initiatives staff members presented or participated in the recent "Across the Divide Conference", held March 30-31 at Miami. As the primary Diversity and Inclusion showcase for Miami, the conference goal is to promote a deeper community understanding of the key issues and diversity activities across the institution. The theme for the 2023 conference was “Leading Through Innovation and Creativity for Transformative Inclusion.”

Fall 2023-2024 Peer Dialogue Facilitators Needed
|

|
|
Global Initiatives' Center for American & World Cultures (CAWC) is hiring students to serve as peer dialogue facilitators for Miami’s Voices Dialogue program. Voices brings students together for structured and sustained dialogue across different social identities to help them succeed in life and to forge a more inclusive campus, workplace, and society.

Host Shelly Abrams sat with ILR director Judy Macke and ILR instructor Bob Viney to learn more about the 2023 spring session of the Institute for Learning and Retirement.
