Greetings from the University Staff Advisory Council!

March Meeting Highlights

  • USAC was joined by Lydell Francis, who oversees the SkillBridge at Vanderbilt program. SkillBridge is a 12-week rotational fellowship program that provides transitioning service members the opportunity to gain broad exposure to Vanderbilt. Skillbridge relies upon departments across the university for fellowship placements; Lydell remains ready to converse with interested departments about this opportunity.

  • Marquita Rice, Training Development Coordinator for Information Technology presented on the Professional Fellowship Program. This program is a two-year rotation and competency-based fellowship that provides training and development to recent Vanderbilt graduates. Projects upon which fellows work are submitted by Vanderbilt departments and must take between 30 and 120 days to complete.

USAC Nominations are open

All staff represented by USAC are assigned to one of twenty USAC groups, with representation based on the number of employees within each group. We hold elections each spring, and it is time for even-numbered groups to nominate colleagues to be a USAC representative! Use our lookup tool to see if your group is an even-numbered group and then nominate colleagues who you think will represent your interests!

 Employee Critical Support Fund

The Employee Critical Support fund provides assistance to qualifying faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event. This is a valuable offering that provides employees peace of mind during times of uncertainty and demonstrates the power and values of the Vanderbilt community.
Employees are encouraged to contribute to the fund in whatever ways you can through direct one-time gifts, through payroll deduction, or through
the Kroger Community Rewards Program.

Join USAC around campus

There are opportunities to join USAC in the coming weeks:
  • March 28, 8am-10am, Student Life Center - come get a new professional headshot using the Professional Photo Booth and mingle with colleagues from across campus
  • April 3, 12pm - 4pm; April 4, 9am - 1pm, Alumni Hall 2nd floor - join USAC and other community members in helping to sort donations to the Graduate School Career Closet

Save the Date:  Giving Day is Approaching!
Get ready to mark your calendars for April 11th as we gear up for an exciting Giving Day here at Vanderbilt! This year, we invite you to join us for Giving Day’s on-campus activities, where you can take a break from your busy day and consider making a gift to the Employee Critical Support Fund or an area that holds special meaning for you in support of Giving Day. Should you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out at givingday@vanderbilt.edu.

Let's unite as a community to make a lasting impact.  USAC will be asking staff and other community members to give towards the Employee Critical Support Fund this year. Stay tuned for more updates and ways to get involved!
