NEW INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT
Jeff Carley "I got into teaching Group Exercise classes because I love people and exercising. I feed off the energy of being with a group of people pushing to get to the next level together. It is exciting. I love to teach because I love to learn. I love to watch others and learn from their physicality and then pay it forward by sharing it with participants in my classes and seeing them flourish. At Active Wellness Center Napa, I will be leading classes in a follow along format with vocal and physical queuing, I also teach ballroom salsa and swing and hip hop routines. My classes are fun, high-energy and emotionally charged, connecting to the music I am playing. There is no judgement in my classes; everyone is encouraged and supported to participate at the level where they feel most comfortable. The music and the movement make my classes unique. I grew up breaking dancing and popping and I incorporate a lot of that in my classes with body rolls and fun physical alternatives for most movements. I want to improve the experience for my class participants so I am always working on understanding them more, like asking what music they like and seeing what moves they like to practice. Right now I am working on the basic C Walk which is very cool looking and Snoop Dogg is known for it."
You can find Jeff teaching Zumba on Tuesdays at 6pm, starting 11/7.

ROCK STEADY BOXING CORNERWalking to A Beat
Research has shown that walking to a beat and following the rhythm can greatly help people with Parkinson’s disease to move more freely and even prevent/get out of freezing. Actor Alan Alda, who is fighting Parkinson’s disease, marches to John Phillip Sousa music every day. So, since there are no RSB classes over the holiday weekend…why not crank up your favorite tunes, grab a family member or friend and boogie down? Â
Reminder: There will be no Rock Steady Boxing classes on Thursday, 11/23 or Friday, 11/24.
