With Heartfelt Gratitude
Thank you for being part of our 60th Anniversary celebration! Your presence made it truly special — from heartfelt conversations to laughter-filled moments, we were reminded how powerful the SYA community really is. Throughout the celebration, there were reminders that SYA is not just a program — it’s a purpose.
We are grateful for our humble beginnings, thanks to visionaries like Clark Vaughan and Dan Olivier — and the many believers who followed in their footsteps. To the three original students who joined us on this journey and the (more than!) 200 guests; our host families; our faculty; our community partners; our parents; and our students ... this celebration was for you. The collective belief in our mission has led to 9,049 alumni who have made SYA their own over the past six decades.
Thank you for being part of this extraordinary milestone.

From the mosaic tiles of Barcelona to the echoes of Belchite, every detail of this celebration was made brighter by the warmth and enthusiasm of our alumni, families, faculty and friends. Now, we’d love to hear your reflections.
Your feedback will help us honor what worked beautifully, learn where we can grow and continue building a strong, connected and inspired SYA community.
Also, the survey is where you can provide permission to be included in the 60th Contact List. We want to help keep connections and conversations going long after we close the WhatsApp group!

"I am still contemplating the enormous effort that went into designing this amazing experience for us all … the joy and opportunity it delivered — and is delivering — is multidimensional: the opportunity to learn important lessons from non contemporaneous SYAers about things like the Franco years in Barcelona, to connecting with people who would have already become lifelong friends if we had met them when we were 16 … I am so full of gratitude that I will be repeating my thanks for a long time to come." – Bryan Simmons FR’78
This sentiment captures what so many of us felt during SYA’s 60th Anniversary: a deep sense of connection across decades, and a renewed appreciation for the power of shared experiences.
If you left Spain feeling the same gratitude, let it fuel your next step: a gift to the Kaleidoscope Campaign. Your support helps SYA continue to deliver the kind of life-shaping moments that span generations.
Give thanks. Give back. Support the Kaleidoscope Campaign.
