Sunday in a Word

We’re talking the text!  Each Tuesday, the pastoral staff discusses the sermon text for the upcoming Sunday, and we publish it each Wednesday in our eBlast and our YouTube channel on Wednesdays.  We invite you to listen in and hear our conversation about God’s Word. The link is provided below, and the sermon text is based on Luke 18:9-14.

Generosity 2026

God says, “I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it?”

If we look back on “old things,” we see that Westminster has a history of believing that God is about to do a “new thing.”  God-sized dreams resulted in such things as
“Curry Ingram” and “Westminster Home Connection.”  God-sized dreams have inspired us to sacrifice so that others can be lifted up. Believing that God is always doing a new thing is what makes Westminster a vibrant congregation. We believe that God is calling us to deepen our faith and witness in the world, and to be a way of hope in the wilderness.

If you’ve never pledged, we invite you to do “a new thing.” If you’re a long-time pledger, we encourage you to help us pursue God’s “new things” in the days ahead.  Prayerfully think about increasing your pledge by 4%.  Thank you!
New Baby Families Gathering
9:45 a.m. • Room 10
Have you had a baby since last October? The Young Families Ministry invites you and your family to join us to meet other families with at least one little one born within the past year. We hear it said often, “The people who mean the most to us here are the people we raised our kids with.” This is a space where you may find just that.

We can’t make anyone sleep any longer during the night. But we can promise that friends on the same journey are found here. And we love walking alongside those curious about digging deeper into a life of faith as a family.

Coffee will be waiting. We hope to see you there.

New Member Reception

The Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church received the following new members at a called meeting this morning. They will be welcomed into this community of faith during the 11:00 a.m. service of worship today. We rejoice in their presence among us, the witness of their faith, their life stories and gifts, and sense of call!

Adult education classes start at 9:45 a.m.

Everybody hurts...
Some of the hurts in our communities we are aware of, and we have protocols to respond to those. But we all know of others in our community that are hurting in silence, or hurting but haven’t ever named it, or maybe are hurting but don’t really understand what exactly hurts, or others who feel like their hurts aren’t big enough. What are some
of these hidden or overlooked hurts? Where are these other
people who hurt? Isn’t some hurting just a part of life?

This class provides an opportunity for a community of faith to discuss these questions
.
This class is part of a Congregational Care Ministry series.

W.B. Yeats once said,
“Things fall apart.” They do. But we believe, in the words of Craig Barnes, that “God is not nearly done pulling together the things that have fallen apart.”

Join us for a 7-part series where we make space to wrestle with the things that fall apart and the One that holds all things together.
