Stevens Institute of Technology will be closed beginning December 23rd and will reopen on January 2nd. If you wish to meet with their academic advisor during the month of January via Zoom, students are welcome to make an appointment here or reach out via email.
The CEOE Center for Student Success wishes you a wonderful break and holiday season. Please continue to monitor your campus email throughout break, as important updates regarding courses, scholarships, internships, events and more will continue to be sent.

Structural Engineering Institute ASCE Scholarship |
ASCE is offering two scholarships for students to attend the ASCE-SEI Structures Congress in Phoenix, AZ, April 9-11, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn, engage, and network with the structural engineering community. Last year, a Stevens undergraduate student attended this conference through this scholarship. The deadline to apply is January 3. Additional information is available here.

CEOE Undergraduate Conference Scholarship |
The Department of Civil, Environmental and Ocean Engineering will offer up to $500 per scholarship application for junior and senior students enrolled in a major in CEOE to present at a conference. A preliminary proposal, breakdown of expected costs, justification and letter of support from a full-time CEOE faculty member are required. American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Scholarship |
The American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) North Central Jersey Chapter is offering scholarships for the upcoming school year. Last year, three scholarships were awarded, and all three were awarded to Stevens civil engineering majors, so consider applying if you meet the requirements. Please find the application here. The deadline is December 10, 2024. This application requires multiple signatures from the department, so please plan ahead.

Ernest F. Hollins Undergraduate Scholarship |
This scholarship is available to undergraduate students studying engineering in a NOAA mission-relevant disciplines. Students must be currently in their second (of four years) or third (of five years). Additional information is available here. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey Scholarship |
The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey (ACECNJ) awards up to seven scholarships each year to students who intend to become consulting engineers. The scholarship application is here and the deadline is February 7, 2025. Many Stevens students have won before, so it is suggested students consider applying. This scholarship requires multiple signatures from the department, so please plan ahead.

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New Jersey Scholarship |
The Professional Engineers in Construction of New Jersey is pleased to announce that they will present the 2024-2025 Sol Seid Award for Excellence to a junior civil engineering student. The award will have a value of up to $15,000 to be paid to the student.
They will select the awardee(s) from the nominees submitted by each of the seven Universities in New Jersey offering civil engineering degrees.
The Professional Engineers in Construction Student Awards Committee will consider academic excellence, extracurricular activities, work experience, an ability to express ideas, an interest in career opportunities in the construction industry, and pursuit of a licensure as a PE in making the final determination of the recipient.
If you are interested in being the nominee from Stevens, please submit the below information to Prof. Sarath Jagupilla (sjagupil@stevens.edu) and Liz O’Connell (eoconne2@stevens.edu) by Friday, January 19 at 4pm:

After receiving the completed packages, the CEOE Department will select the nominee who will complete the full application.

Finals Study Support Sessions
|
In preparation for finals, CEOE will be hosting Finals Study Support Sessions in the CEOE Center for Student Success (Davidson Lab 238). The goal of these sessions is to provide students the opportunity to ask tutors targeted questions about specific material, rather than holding general review sessions.
To ensure the best possible experience, we ask that students sign up at least 48 hours in advance using the link below for their preferred session time.
Times are listed throughout the week of December 9 on the RSVP link.
As always, the CEOE Center for Student Success will also be available for students to stop by for a place to study, work on group projects, and unwind.

Naval Engineering Student Mixer
|
Join us for a fun and relaxed event where students will have the chance to meet naval engineering majors, connect with upper-class students, and interact with faculty while enjoying pizza. Additionally, students will enjoy a tour and demonstration of the Davidson Lab tank.

Arcadis: Career Paths in Consulting Engineering
|
Join us for an introduction to the field of Engineering Consulting, where we'll explore the key sectors Arcadis is involved in and what sets them apart from other firms. Industry professionals will share insights into their projects and offer a high-level overview of their experiences at Arcadis. This event is designed to help students imagine themselves pursuing a career in consulting and gain a deeper understanding of the paths in this field, as well as learning about career and internship opportunities within Arcadis.

Sustainability Management graduate students Stephen Crocco and Caden Stott received the golden award at the 2024 Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Conference. Their conference presentation, based on their civil engineering senior design project advised by Prof. Weina Meng and sponsored by Stantec, detailed designs to guide the 107th Street Pier & Bobby Wagner Walkway Restoration project in a sustainable manner.
