Dear Friends,

Across the country and around the world, we’re in a moment that’s asking all of us to choose care, courage, and connection.

Many of us are navigating heartbreak, fear, and uncertainty as we witness the erosion of rights, safety, and sovereignty in our communities. Trusted systems are being pulled apart. Resources are shrinking. People are being displaced and targeted. It can feel like care itself is under attack.

But we also know: this is not the full story.

Every day, we witness care reasserting itself—through women protecting what matters most, building solutions that restore, and standing firm in the face of adversity. These are the leaders Women’s Earth Alliance was built to support.

Will you help us ensure that leaders on the frontlines of our communities have what they need to meet this moment?

We see this leadership taking root in South LA, where young Black leaders are gaining the skills, mentorship, and opportunities they need to shape the future of our communities and movements. We see it in Indonesia, where women eco-entrepreneurs are reimagining what resilience looks like and showing how regenerative, community-rooted economies can take hold. And we see it in Nairobi, where WEA and our partners are launching a women-led Resilience Center—a safe space where women and communities can gather, access vital resources, and shape local solutions in the face of crisis.

We are investing in leaders who don’t wait for permission. Who don’t back down in the face of a challenge. Who meet the moment, and then reshape it.

Below, you’ll find our new Impact Video—a glimpse of what’s possible when we invest in grassroots women leaders. You’ll also read more about the powerful initiatives WEA and our partners are leading across the globe.

If you’re looking for a way to meet this moment with purpose, this is it.

Updates from our Work

WEA’s First Resilience Center Takes Shape in Nairobi

An AI model of WEA's Nairobi Resilience Center
Our Rising Tides, Rising Women Campaign vision is becoming a reality: WEA’s first Resilience Center is now under construction in Nairobi, in partnership with Back 2 Basics. This center will be a dynamic space for women to lead climate solutions, build sustainable livelihoods, and address local environmental challenges. We will offer hands-on training in climate adaptation, eco-entrepreneurship, and sustainable business practices—empowering women to shape resilient, thriving communities.

A central feature of the center will be a women-run plastic recycling micro-factory that transforms Nairobi’s plastic waste into durable building materials. With over 22,000 tons of waste produced daily—nearly a fifth of it plastic—this micro-factory will create jobs, reduce pollution, and contribute to a circular economy.

On World Environment Day 2025, WEA and Back 2 Basics co-hosted an event to highlight these grassroots solutions, emphasizing the vital role of women in tackling plastic pollution and building long-term resilience in climate-impacted communities.

Women Eco-Entrepreneurs Are Reimagining What Business Can Be in Indonesia

Video: Pratusara Bumi Foundation and Women's Earth Alliance
Last month, WEA and Pratisara Bumi Foundation brought together women entrepreneurs from across Indonesia for a powerful Eco-Entrepreneurship Delegation. Traveling to sites in Lombok and Jogjakarta, the delegation visited WEA eco-entrepreneurs for workshops and exchanges—highlighting climate-conscious businesses rooted in culture, community, and care.

The journey culminated in Pekan Yabbiekarta, at a community marketplace co-hosted by WEA, Pratisara Bumi, and Yabbiekayu. Set in Yabbiekayu’s edible garden, the event showcased WEA women-led enterprises—from pineapple-leaf textiles to plant-based home goods—that model what regenerative, locally rooted economies can look like.

Sowing Solutions in the Cloud Forests: WEA's 2025 Mexico Collaboratory

In March, 25 WEA Leaders gathered in Veracruz’s cloud forests for WEA’s Mexico Collaboratory at Las Cañadas, a center for agroecology and sustainable living. These women, who are leading WEA’s programs across Mexico, came together to share knowledge, deepen environmental resilience, and co-create solutions for the challenges facing their communities.

During the Collaboratory, these leaders explored rainwater harvesting, dry toilets, and agroecological farming as practical tools for strengthening environmental resilience. The lessons and tools gained during the event are already being shared across their communities, impacting over 800 women and girls. Through these efforts, they are protecting ecosystems, restoring foodways, and building a powerful network of change across Mexico.

Black Girls, Green Futures Launches Summer Apprenticeships

In May, WEA’s Black Girls, Green Futures Program (BGGF) wrapped its final Saturday session of the school year. Next up: a weekend of nature immersion to deepen earth-based practice and connection—followed by four-week apprenticeships where these young leaders will gain hands-on experience and mentorship in green careers, including environmental mapping and regenerative soil work, creating multimedia campaigns to shift narratives around climate and justice, and more.

In partnership with Environmental Charter School and Seeds of Carver, our Black Girls, Green Futures Program serves 30 Black youth from five South LA campuses—communities of color disproportionately impacted by environmental burdens. Through bioremediation projects on wildfire-scarred land and training in eco-leadership, these students are already restoring ecosystems and building community resilience. Their summer apprenticeships will take that impact even further.

Zara’s 50th Anniversary Celebrates Women’s Leadership with WEA

WEA is thrilled to team up with Zara for their 50th Anniversary campaign—a bold celebration of women’s leadership in style, story, and substance. The campaign features a stunning photo series by legendary fashion photographer Steven Meisel, bringing together 50 iconic models including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Twiggy, and more.

At the heart of the collection is a limited-edition T-shirt printed with Meisel’s striking group portrait. 100% of proceeds from the shirt will go directly to WEA, supporting our work with grassroots women leaders who are advancing environmental solutions and building resilient communities around the world.

This collaboration brings fashion and impact together, uplifting women’s leadership while resourcing the future of climate justice.
