CC has once again received a STARS Gold rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in recognition of its sustainability achievements. The college first earned the Gold rating in 2015 through STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, which measures and promotes sustainability in all areas of higher education.

Now that he’s graduated from CC, 2020 Boettcher Scholar Samuel Frykholm ’24 plans to continue focusing on international politics and security through the Master of Science in Foreign Service program at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. Frykholm will begin the program this fall with hopes of a future career in public service with the U.S. Federal Government.

Kupai Marx ’24 and Kieran Blood ’24 have been awarded a Davis Project for Peace for their work turning weapons into community-based art in Hawai’i.

“We aim to support the mission of addressing gun violence and promoting peacebuilding through creative activism,” says Marx, an Environmental Studies major who is originally from Hawai’i. “Inspired by the RAWtools model, the work of this project is to transform confiscated firearms into garden tools and art, symbolizing the transformation of violence into constructive and peaceful endeavors.”

Join the FAC’s museum collections team on Friday, July 19 for a special day of sculpture care. Visitors are invited to watch staff clean and wax the bronze sculptures around the museum (locations and times below). Each cleaning will start with a brief discussion about the artists and their works. This drop-in program is free and open to the public. Weather dependent.
