| Featured Project: Upper Dublin Township Repurposes Former Golf Course as Public Park
| |
On December 1, 2019, Twining Valley Park began its transformation from municipal golf course to a park—returning it to nature and the residents of Upper Dublin Township in Montgomery County. With a vision crafted from a 2016 feasibility study, the property has developed into a passive park with active amenities.
Phase one work, completed this year, included:
- Naturalization of approximately 75 percent of the 105-acre property
- Creation of a 5.5-mile multi-user trail network
- A 4.85-acre, 3-enclosure dog park
- 52-car macadam parking lot
- 200-car stone parking area
Throughout the project, “the township has prided itself on extensive public outreach through mailed and online surveying, public meetings with post-meeting feedback opportunities, and a strong online presence,” said Derek Dureka, Director of Parks and Recreation for Upper Dublin Township. “This consistent communication has resulted in continued support for this multi-phase project.”
Future work on the site will include a bike playground, pickleball courts, tree planting, and more. For construction updates, visit the township’s Twining Valley Park Development page.
