The SYA Board of Trustees is pleased to announce this year's award recipients.
Join us for Founder's Day Town Hall as we recognize three remarkable alumnae whose vision, creativity and dedication have made a profound impact in the SYA community and the world around them. Menna-Heiwot Zufan Demessie CN’97, a champion for equity and social justice; Lara Adekoya FR’10, a community-minded entrepreneur whose baking brings comfort and connection; and Carol Weston FR’74 ES’05P ES’08P, who has inspired one of the most engaged alumni classes in our history through her tireless outreach and volunteer leadership.
“These honorees remind us of the profound impact an SYA education can have long after the classroom experience. Through their leadership, creativity and service, Menna, Lara and Carol continue to inspire us and exemplify the values we hold dear,” said President Tom Hassan.
All three of this year's honorees exemplify the core values of SYA. Their stories remind us that leadership takes many forms — and that the ripple effects of one person’s dedication can reach across continents and generations.
Chair of the Board Taylor Ruggles ES'85 said, "I am thrilled to celebrate Menna, Lara and Carol as this year’s honorees. Each in her own way has shown what it means to turn inspiration into action and to use talent in the service of others. Thanks to my fellow trustees, Darcy McLean ES'01 and the Awards Committee, for recommending such strong candidates for this year's awarding."
