The U.S. Senate only has five African American Senators. Yet, they are leading voices driving bipartisanship in crypto policy in Congress.
• Both in the House and now in the Senate, Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE) has co-authored meaningful legislation to advance blockchain technology to fuel U.S. competitiveness.
• A freshman, Senator Angela Alsobrooks (MD) co-authored the GENIUS Act, which is now law.
• Senator Cory Booker (NJ) is currently a lead negotiator for the Senate Agriculture Committee crypto market structure bill.
• Senator Raphael Warnock (GA), though not quite a champion, has focused his legislative efforts narrowly on ethics and consumer risks to increase accountability (Issues all five Senators have also prioritized).
• As the only Black Republican, Senator Tim Scott (SC) Chairs the Senate Banking Committee, which can be argued is the most powerful body for crypto policy in that chamber.
African American policymakers in Washington continue to be key bipartisan voices in Web3 and DeFi policy debates 🔥
