Campus Community,
You may have read about the global issues encountered overnight with Windows PCs (including servers) crashing with blue screens around the world. This outage isn't a cyberattack, but due to an update sent out by Crowdstrike, which is an anti-virus, anti-malware program.
Macs are unaffected.
We use Crowdstrike here at CC and have already seen evidence of this issue affecting us. We've worked already to get servers back online and will monitor them, and we don't know how extensive the problem will be on your own Windows PCs as you start work this morning. If your computer just boots up to a blue screen and doesn't let you log in, then you are affected and please let us know. There is a fix that we can apply - how fast we can get to you will depend on how widespread it is on our devices. We are hoping most of them were offline during the time the bad update was released.
Note that this should only affect your CC-owned windows PC. Your personally owned PCs should not be affected because they probably do not have Crowdstrike installed.
